What an unforgettable experience Kyle's first international competition has been! As an individual, I was unable to perform at his best or as he would have preferred due to nerves and a significant amount of emotion. Kyle's spasticity took over until he found my confidence and control. However, now that Kyle have gained experience, he will be able to build on it. During the team events, he began to play more like himself, teaming up with Kristyn and Olivier. Achieving such a result, and playing together for the first time ever, with only three hours of training in Cali, we won SILVER—what an achievement!
Kyle would like to thank his dad, Colin for being his sport as0sistant, as well as his teammates Kristyn and Olivier for allowing him to be part of something so special and represent their country and sport. To Louis and Blaise, it has been an absolute pleasure getting to know both of you. Kyle is considering writing a sitcom about you two, perhaps called 'THE ODD BALLS', produced by his dad, with a few cameo appearances. It was a fun week because you both made him laugh and feel like family. Coach César, don't know where to begin. Firstly, Kyle would like to express his gratitude for the opportunity to be considered a "Rising Star" in the sport of Boccia. Your leadership, patience, and countless hours dedicated to the team, and personally being right by everybody's side with full commitment, are invaluable. If you ever feel that we do not value your time and endless coaching, please know that we am immensely grateful for all the hard work and dedication you have given to TEAM CANADA. It has been a successful week as a result of your guidance, patience, and understanding.
Lastly, to all Kyle's friends and family, thank you for your continued support and cheering from afar!
It’s been a week to remember, and Kyle can not wait to build on this experience!
As Kyle was catching up on social media on the way home, he noticed his name on the Canadian Paralympic Committee's website (CPC). I was speechless and emotionally moved at that moment. It had always been Kyle's dream, and now it has become a reality. Kyle's life is enriched and filled with great satisfaction as a result of this honour!
