Another Boccia Blast has been written!
As an individual and as a member of a team, Kyle performed extremely well in a four-day tournament. The BC1 division was very competitive, with each athlete bringing their A game to the table, resulting in extremely close matches. As a result, Kyle was awarded a Bronze medal.
The coaches of Team Canada were very impressed with the progress made. Since the beginning of May, Kyle had been practicing as a foot player, bringing a surprise to all participants. The first attempt at using the foot was at the Ontario Parasport Games, but only athletes, referees, and family witnessed the performance.
The Boccia Blast is a national event that attracted athletes and referees from all across Canada. As usual, the athlete confused everyone, including the referee, by doing both throwing and kicking. An international and Paralympic referee observed the team play match as a line person and had a look of confusion on her face as she remarked, "Wait, didn't he just throw the ball and then kick?" Wow, impressive!
After being classified as a BC1 foot player with a status of under review, the classifiers were quite impressed and intrigued, as they had never encountered such a scenario before. Consequently, Kyle holds the distinction of becoming the first Canadian thrower and foot player to achieve BC1 status!
One of his games has been broadcast by the talented commentator Brock Richardson. Viewers can click on this link to watch: https://www.youtube.com/live/I77mSjcyNT4?si=9fFuhjc-08eiFPEp
